  • About The Role

  • MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    •  Develop and standardise technical documents for Selwood product end users, ensuring consistency and efficiency in job execution across Selwood PSM.
    •  Develop user manuals, troubleshooting guides, quick start guides, training materials, and safety manuals ensuring clarity and accessibility for diverse audiences.
    •  Utilise technical illustrations and diagrams to simplify maintenance instructions, assembly processes, and fault-finding procedures.
    •  Develop a Technical documentation change request process to ensure all changes are justified, recorded and tracked up to completion. Monitor the request process for effectiveness. 
    •  Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, training, and SHEQ to ensure consistency in documentation and communication. Working with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product, process flows and documentation requirements.
    •  Manage templates and documentation standards to improve efficiency and uniformity across all technical materials.
    •  Proofread, review, and maintain technical documents across manufacturing departments, ensuring they are up-to-date and meet organisational needs.
    •  Advise on software requirements and best practice for creating and storing technical documents. 
    •  Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the documentation process and improve the quality of technical outputs.
    •  Continuously update knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices related to pumping systems, by completing Selwood issued workshops, training, eLearning, and development courses.
    •  Train end users on new technical documentation to make sure they understand what is required of them. 
    •  Collect and incorporate feedback from end users, and other stakeholders to ensure documentation remains practical and user focused.
    •  Become product expert with multidisciplinary knowledge on the function and application of Selwood products
    •  Produce the design of service tool kits using CAD package including packaging, labelling and processing (e.g. 3D Printing, machining).
    •  Write Technical and Safety Bulletins to advise end users of product recalls. 
    •  Deliver and maintain a portal for end users to access relevant technical documentation. 
    •  Produce Operator Manuals in accordance with CE and UKCA Regulations and safety standards. 
    •  Complete exploded Parts Lists for complex Electro-Mechanical systems.
    •  Simplify maintenance instructions, assembly sequences and troubleshooting guides using technical illustrations wherever possible. 

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: 

    Essential:

    • Minimum – HNC or Degree (BSc/BEng) in a relevant discipline.
    •  Demonstrable experience as a Technical Author in an Engineering or OEM (Manufacturing) industry.
    •  Demonstrable experience with Solidworks CAD and illustrations.
    •  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    •  Quality focused with a strong attention to detail.
    •  Ability to plan technical writing projects and manage tasks.
    •  Ability to present complex information in a simplified format.
    •  Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
    •  Passionate about new technologies, new ideas and new ways of thinking.
    •  Exhibits strong self-management skills, adept at effectively prioritising tasks to ensure high-quality completion within deadlines, even when faced with multiple conflicting priorities. 
    •  Good knowledge of manufacturing/assembly techniques with the ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.
    •  Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills for diverse and complex issues in high-pressure manufacturing environments.
    •  Proficient in MS Office. 

    Preferred: 

    • Some knowledge of System curves, friction loses and pump cavitation understanding
