About The Role
To complement our teams and to continually drive quality through the manufacturing process we are inviting applications for the position of Production Engineer.

The Production Engineer will provide engineering support to Pump manufacturing & paint with focus on process improvement (To include projects), New Product Introduction (NPI), and resolution of Safety , Quality/ Delivery / Cost and Inventory (SQDCI) issues.
This role is a fundamental link between the Production floor and our R&D department requiring high levels of communication to ensure best practice and efficiencies within the full manufacturing process.
 
Reporting to the Production Manager, this role will have the technical responsibility for the part specific production support as well as quality cost and delivery (QCD) improvements associated with their parts. This responsibility can include drive to zero defects (DZD) and and yield improvement activity and validation of new tooling for business continuity and rate purposes.
 
Main Responsibilities:

Duties for the Production Engineer will be wide ranging and varied. Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Advise on design for Production.
  • Problem solving to resolve issues within a manufacturing environment.
  • Primary interface between design office and production.
  • Design of Lean manufacturing calls for one piece flow, including assembly and test / calibration processes.
  • Design / Specification of process equipment /systems using lean methodologies, including specification of jigs / fixtures, software / database systems, and
  • ergonomic custom benching
  • Problem solving to resolve issues within a manufacturing environment.
  • Production / maintenance staff training.
  • Implementing best practice for health and safety. 
  • Kaizen continuous improvements, including raising Non-conformances.
  • Drive technical solutions
  • Cost improvement analysis including time and motion studies
  • Driving all drawing/BoM changes originating from shop floor.
  • Mentor / Coach operators
  • Assisting with the development of manufacturing specifications and build standards
 
Qualifications / Competencies:

Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant discipline (Manufacturing Engineering or other related technical discipline).
  • Background in Lean manufacturing process engineering.
  • Experience in the design / specification of Lean manufacturing process, production line ergonomics, and jig / fixture specification / design. Understanding of
  • Six Sigma tools and techniques is desirable
  • Problem solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of writing work instructions and documenting best practice.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Project management skills, and ability to prepare project plans.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD and PDM software desirable.
  • Knowledge of 6-sigma and MiniTab desirable (green belt training will be provided).
  • Strong interest in production technology, and experience of working in a highly regulated industry desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills (ability to relate to staff of all levels / disciplines).
  • Team player with ability to positively influence others.
