About The Role
Selwood has seen continued growth over the past few years and continues to invest for growth into the future.  As a result of this there is a need to develop our approach to supply chain management, so we are inviting applications for the position of Operational buyer to be based at our head off site in Chandlers Ford Hampshire to join the team on a fixed term contract basis.

The role will  act as the primary interface within Selwood for all operational supply chain activity on a selected group of product categories and will be responsible for achieving optimum value on the total cost of ownership through effective ordering, expediting, performance monitoring and supplier relationship management.
This role will also manage the day to day supply chain operational requirements in a timely, effective & conscientious manner.

Responsibilities of this role will include:

Operational Procurement

  • Manage and maintain the supply of goods & services to Selwood within assigned categories of spend.
  • Ensure best value is achieved by analysis and effective processing of material requirements through the MRP system.
  • Expedite material requirements in-line with operational needs and forecasted usage.
  • In cooperation with the Category Buyer manage the relationships with suppliers within the assigned categories of spend to achieve best prices and value for goods and services purchased by Selwood.
  •  Working with internal & external stakeholders to resolve quality & commercial issues in a prompt & effective manner
Part Management
  • Primary interface for the creation & management of the Supply Chain elements of system BOM’s.
  •  Perform validation checks on the cost elements within the BOM structures, ensuring any discrepancies are corrected in line with business requirements and in agreement with major stakeholders.
Inventory Management
  • Warehouse transfers, issues & adjustments.
  • Resolving goods receiving issues relating to category suppliers.
  •  Engineering change control.

Purchase Ledger
  • Material purchase invoice/credit matching/approval.
  • Manage landed cost charges. (Freight & Duty)
  • Liaison with purchase ledger to ensure correct payments, credits etc. 
Project Managemen
  • Assist the Supply Chain management on specific business related projects that directly impact the Supply Chain function.
  • Create, maintain and publish Supply Chain related processes and procedures as required by the business and in agreement with the Supply Chain management.

  • Organise and prioritise personal workload on a daily basis.
  • Promote value for money & effectiveness through the removal of waste systems & process, driving excellence in all that we do through continuous improvement. 

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Proven career within a Supply Chain or Procurement function within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Educated to A –Level standard or beyond.
  • CIPS or equivalent Supply Chain Qualification or working toward.
  • Able to communicate confidently with outside suppliers and employees at all levels.
  • Persuade and influence people.
  • Solve problems quickly and effectively.
  • Work effectively under pressure.

Selwood are pleased to offer a competitive salary & benefits package and free on site parking. 

Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.

This position will be based at our Chandlers Ford headquarters and will require some travel to our branch network.
