To complement our teams and to continually drive quality through the design process of our Pump range, we are inviting applications for the position of Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer.

This role will have the responsibility of producing design and detailed drawings, together with written specifications, to enable manufacture of Company products, prototype components and test fixtures.

The role will be involved in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes in order to design our latest solutions for off-highway diesel & electric driven pumps as per agreed customer requirements.

Working closely with our R&D and Production Engineering department, you will ensure that the product meets our quality standards and are safe to operate.

• To design Diesel Engine electrical harnesses and installation layout drawings.
• To implement strict electrical testing procedures to ensure software & hardware meets our quality standards.
• To produce accurate design, bill of materials, detailed drawings in accordance with international standards and company procedures, within agreed timescales.
• To write tests validation reports and wiring schematics.
• To be responsible for small size engineering projects with minimal supervision and regular consultation.
• To progress larger size projects with other members of the team.
• To ensure designs are functional, safe and cost effective, while maintaining the expected quality & QHSE standards.
• Implementing changes to improve productivity, quality and cost.
• Ensure technical files for new installation are complete in accordance with Machinery Directives.
• To produce concise written specifications which give all information necessary for procurement of required proprietary parts.
• To maintain Design Office records in accordance with Company procedures.
• To work closely with production engineering and ensure day-to-day issues are resolved.
• To ensure all deviation requests (concessions) are dealt promptly.
• To assist with queries from the different departments within the organisation and sub-contract suppliers.
• To liaise with suppliers to ensure ‘best available practice’ is maintained through the manufacturing process.

• Minimum – Degree or HND/HNC in a relevant discipline (e.g. electrical & mechanical engineering) 
  
• Proven history within a design engineering background. 
  
• Knowledge of electrical installation design.
  
• Knowledge of wiring and PCB schematics.
  
• Knowledge of sheet metal and close tolerance machining.
  
• Good reporting and communication skills with project members & directors.
  
• Able to provide training to workshop technicians and customers. 
  
• Able to resolve complex electrical problem.

• Chartered Engineering Qualification.
  
• Some knowledge of heavy machinery, construction & water industry.
  
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA), stress calculation, bearing system design.
  
• Familiarity on diesel engine & electric motor installations.
  
• Fluid dynamic and centrifugal pump design experience.
  
• Knowledge in plastic mouldings (rotational, injection & vacuum forming).
  
• Vault professional, AutoCad 2D & Autodesk Inventor.
