Based from an impressive site in Monmouth, South Wales.
About The Role
Selwood Ltd and Siltbuster are inviting applications for the position of SHE Advisor to join our friendly teams based in Monmouth, South Wales reporting to the Head of SHEQ.

Position purpose
The SHE Advisor will assist the Siltbuster senior leadership team in the planning, development, coordination and maintenance of Safety, Health and Environmental management systems, accreditation's, statutory compliance inspections, internal/external audit and inspection, record management, document control, SHE performance KPIs and continuous improvement plans.

 
Main Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this role will be varied and will include the following:
 
       General
  • Provide SHE advice, coordination and administrative support to the Siltbuster Senior Leadership team in planning, maintaining and continuously improving Siltbuster SHE arrangements, management systems, accreditation's and legal and regulatory compliance
  • Develop and write SHE policies, procedures, guidelines and form templates
  • Develop SHE induction, awareness and training materials for line managers to be able to deliver to their staff, in liaison with HR
  • Develop and maintain a Company document control system to ensure document currency, suitability for use and control
  • Further develop and maintain a system for recording, addressing, analysing and reporting SHE issues (accidents, incidents, process errors, complaints, environmental issues)
  • Undertake incident and accident investigations to identify root causes, making recommendations to address these
  • Develop a system for capturing and responding to feedback (complaints and testimonials) 
  • Provide SHE advice and information to sales and operations teams responding to client and supplier questionnaires and bids
  • Maintain current and accurate SHE statistics and regularly report on SHE performance
  • Monitor and report on legal and regulatory changes and advise and help implement any relevant change measures to ensure continued compliance. 
  • Providing SHE support at other WorkDry sites where appropriate.

    Stakeholders and Teamwork

  • Be a central point of contact for SHE advice and support to staff, and for external auditors and accreditation bodies
  • Prepare SHE communications for use in the office and to be circulated to the team, including posters, signage, bulletins and questionnaires
  • Help the Leadership team encourage staff participation in SHE matters 

    Financial and productivity

  • Develop an internal SHE audits schedule and liaise with managers and key stakeholder to develop audit scopes and documentation templates
  • Conduct and report on internal audits
  • Coordinate SHE audits by external bodies and liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure that information required for the audit is current, adequate and available 
  • Monitor inspections, audit reports and close out actions to ensure full and timely completion 
  • Carry out contractor, sub-contractor and supplier audits as necessary
  • Assist the Senior Leadership team wherever possible in introducing new technology, techniques, or procedures as necessary to continuously improve Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality performance.
 
       Qualifications and skills required:
 
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or similar e.g. NVQ (minimum requirement)
  • An understanding of Health & Safety Management Systems (ISO18001/45001).
  • An understanding of Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001). 
  • Environmental qualification greatly beneficial
  • Audit certification, be working towards this or relevant similar experience 
  • Root cause investigation exposure
  • Full UK driving license
  • Excellent knowledge of ISO9001, IOS14001, ISO18001/45001
  • Working knowledge of Achilles and Safe contractor (preferred)
  • Practical history of Internal audits
  • Understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Good understanding of basic quality and LEAN principles
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft applications to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Basic use of Visio desirable
  • Excellent communication,planning, organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Accident and incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Data analysis and KPIs
  • Ability to produce accurate reports, policies and procedures
  • Ability to interact with & influence interested parties at all levels

This is a full time position, Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week and will require flexibility to travel from Monmouth to our branch network nationwide on occasions.
