About The Role

An exciting opportunity to join and be an integral part of the IT infrastructure team at Selwood's Head Office in Chandlers Ford. The role covers a wide breadth of technologies and the opportunity to be instrumental in the company’s future landscape. In addition to maintaining & troubleshooting daily server / network issues, you will be influential in designing, building & implementing new core technologies within the group.

To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills, have a willingness to think out of the box and approach tasks logically, this being in relation to technical problems as well as any business requirements.

There will be some occasional travel within the UK to branch offices, so driving license required.

RESPONSIBLE TO: IT Infrastructure and Security Manager


  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Monitor and test system/application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with vendors to implement suggested improvements.
  • Install and configure operating systems, software, and hardware components, and clearly document the design, maintenance, and support procedures for routine tasks to leverage IT support staff.
  • Conduct high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption and establish preventive measures.
  • Oversee the overall backup strategy and daily operations for secure backups and restore testing
  • Maintain security & redundancy strategies.
  • Standardize and automate processes and monitoring using scripting technology
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
  • Provide technical direction to IT support staff (Helpdesk) when required.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware)
  • Good scripting skills (PowerShell)
  • Experience with Cloud based systems.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies and methods
  • Experience planning, researching and developing security policies, standards and procedures
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Industry qualifications (MCSE, CCNA)
  • ITIL Foundation or above
